A Century of Sisterhood – The Campaign for Delta Mu Reaches $1.4M Mark
Since 1914, the Delta Mu Chapter of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity has been an important part of the University of Alabama. Leading up to the chapter’s centennial anniversary, the housing corporation launched A Century of Sisterhood-The Campaign for Delta Mu and embarked upon the project of building a new home.
With the University experiencing unprecedented growth, sorority recruitment has been the largest in the nation and increased the chapter’s roll to over 250 members. In order to handle this increase, Tri Delta selected Treanor Architects and Ellis Architects to develop a plan to build a home around the needs and opportunities of the chapter and modern building standards. The style and layout placed an emphasis on enhancing strong sisterhood for the collegians, serving as a destination for alumnae, providing an environment that benefits members’ academic pursuits and strengthening Tri Delta’s ties to the University and the community.
The project has been embraced by collegians and alumnae alike, and $1,325,583 has been contributed towards the new facility, which is scheduled to welcome its first occupants in February 2013.
